Review: "I've caught several gigs by Australian band IN VIVO in the last several months and in the process I've had my mind blown."

IN VIVO was founded by Fiona Lee Maynard & James Lomas of Melbourne, Australia. Fiona's "unmistakeable voice" came to prominence in her native country as lead vocalist for for the band "Have A Nice Day (HAND)" with an album and several singles on Mushroom Records. In the late '80's and early '90's the band toured extensively headlining their own shows as well as supporting many artists of national acclaim: Faith No More, Jane's Addiction, The Fall, Mudhoney, The Violent Femmes, Extreme and Concrete Blonde among them.

Striking up what was to prove a lasting friendship with Concrete Blonde, Fiona & singer Johnette Napolitano collaborated a few years later on songs for Fiona's solo album also released on Mushroom, "My Time."

James Lomas, well known as one of the most promising young guitarists in Australia, joined up with Fiona on her solo tour after playing various clubs and concerts in Melbourne.

Reviews only hinted at what was to come of the alchemy of these two artists together. Supporters included Australian Rolling Stone, InPress Magazine, Beat Magazine, Juice Magazine, the Herald Sun (Melbourne) and The Sydney Sunday Telegraph, who decided "Fiona owes no dues to anyone..."

In the words of a rapt audience member of a show at the Coconut Teazser in Hollywood, California, " I don't know if we should be watching, as voyeurs to this love affair on stage, or if we should look away... but it's fascinating, and I have to look.

Of the IN VIVO CD, producer, longtime friend and fan, Johnette Napolitano opines that this is "Fiona's best work... best writing, singing and playing; James guitar work is original, effortless and tasteful... these two will be scary."
