THE MYSTERY BAND
Insert Title Here
Producer: The Mystery Band

The Mystery Band's debut, INSERT TITLE HERE, is a full-on celebration of "The Weird". Featuring former members of both Captain Beefheart's Magic Band and punk legends, The Child Molesters, their pedigree presents as much a conundrum as do the 21 other "Little Mysteries" (songs) contained.

Review: "...Did I mention that the first track is entitled "Opening the umbrella to go outdoors, I notice the corner of a postcard I received two years ago peering out from beneath the bureau in the corner of the room" and consists of one cough that lasts three seconds? Thought not. All adds up to an album made in good fun if sometimes in bad taste."

When former Child Molester (the band... no sex offenders here!), vocalist, Ace Farren Ford and Richard "Midnight Hatsize" Snyder, ex bassist for Captain Beefheart's Magic Band, originally talked of forming a band, the imagination boggled as to what type of music would be created by this rather bizarre collaboration. Add to this eclectic pot one Maurice "Mystery" Jones on guitar and vocals, Gary Riley on guitar and vocals and drummer and "artistic whistler" Pierre Dupuy. Five great singer/songwriters... what would the music sound like?

Some of these questions are answered with their debut release, INSERT TITLE HERE, but the MYSTERY BAND, alluringly, leave many open manholes for the casual listener to walk into. Each songwriter walks their own weird path on the CD but somehow the individual parts make a much bigger whole. The lyrics suggest 21 little mysteries all of their own.

It's fun. It's harsh. It's gentle. But mainly...

...It's mysterious
